Our Visit with Nana and Boompa!

The kids and I drove out to meet Nana and Boompa 2 hours away and the kids did great in the car of course I had to listen to "head, shoulders, knees, and toes" about 80 times but as long as they were good lol!
We had a nice breakfast and got to spend some time with them, and then the kids ran around outside and we got to take some pics.

Here is the best pic I could get....Shawn did not want to sit still !
We said our goodbye's and Boompa sent us off with some yummy cookies!

Finally !!!!!

I am sooooooo excited we finished painting Shawn and the new baby's room !!!
So many people I talked to said painting the room half and half was tacky but I knew I had to I wanted them both to have their own space that felt like theirs and plus how can I finally have a girl and not get to paint some girly colors?? lol !

Here is Shawns side I just need to hang up his name letters and some pictures and find a neutral curtain and he is all set.

Here is her side we need to repaint the crib set it up and get some girly bedding and I need to paint her some letters for her name like I did for Shawn.

Here is from his side looking at her side..

and his side from hers...

and the rest of Shawns side.

Let me know what you think.

I am in love with this room I can't wait to have it completely finished.

IHOP who ??

I have been craving these pancakes I had at IHOP they had carmel and banana's and whip cream so this morning I decided to go for it and make them at home.....

I made the carmel sauce myself I got the recipe from my better homes and garden cookbook and it was delicious all I have to say is IHOP who :)

Hunter wouldn't eat it he likes regular stuff like eggs and cereal but Gary and Shawn loved it !
Shawn ate all his whip cream first and said "more" lol !

Hurricane Hanna

Well Hurricane Hanna has come and gone

as you can see no flooding just lots of branches and leaves

Shawn was in leaf heaven !

he picked out his two favorites and just sat and stared at them

Finally a pic of him looking at the camera !

I guess if you name a Hurricane a sweet name like Hanna this is what happens lol!

Ribbits !

This is what my boys spent the other night doing...

Gary and Hunter looked all over the house for frogs with Shawn running behind them screaming Ribbit, he wouldn't touch any but he loved looking at them !
Shawn kept looking over the side at them and every once in awhile they would try to jump out and scare Shawn so bad he would jump back and say oh oh ribbits !

Love this pic

This one was making noises so Hunter felt bad for it and let it go

I am pretty sure they had over 9 frogs in the swimming pool before I called them in !

gotta love boys !

WHY???

I am appalled to say that once again Hunter is being called racial names on the school bus, we dealt with this problem last year and had many days of him being close to tears over the name calling like fat white boy and cracker and many other lovely names they could think of.
First day of school Hunter gets off the bus and I notice the face....its the face of someone who has been picked on to the point of bursting into tears so as the bus is pulling off a boy I would say looks to be in the first grade yells whitey out the window !!
I am thinking you have to be kidding me the FIRST day of school and already ??
So Hunter tells me that they are calling him whitey and white boy again on the bus.

The next morning Gary watched Shawn and the little girl I babysit so I can go in to the school and be able to discuss what was going on, I tell the principal what is going on and she says wow I am shocked because we don't have racial issues at this school (mental eye roll) and that she will take care of this right away....her plan is to get on the bus that day and talk to all the kids.
So the bus pulls up and I am out there waiting and as the bus pulls away a different boy yells something to me and jumps down in his seat I didn't hear what he said but I know it wasn't nice to see you, so I call the principal and she assures me its going to be handled.

What they ended up doing is splitting that bus into two buses apparently it was crowded and hard for the driver to see what was going on and pick out who the bullies were.
So far we haven't had any problems and thats great but I can't get over how children in the first, second and third grade know how to call people racial names its really been weighing on my heart that kids that young think they have a problem with children that aren't' the same skin tone as them !!!
I wish I had a voice big enough to really do something about it, I hate seeing the cycle of racism keep going and I don't want Hunter to grow up in that environment were he is being told he's different from them because of his skin color...children should not see color they should see other children.

Fourth Grade !

Summer is officially over for us even though its still very hot out !

Hunter started 4th grade this year....the first day he was supposed to ride to school on the bus and apparently they didn't have him on the list so we sat in our front yard for a good 30 minutes as every bus under the sun passed us by so we ended up taking him in the first two days like we used to until they got him on the morning list.

Shawn telling us the bus went by...

4th grade and not thrilled about the time of morning it was can't you tell :)

Hunter coming home on the first day of school !

Our 4th grader !

So far he is having a good time and he likes his teacher, this year they get to rotate to two other class rooms for other subjects which is really nice it gives them a break from being in the same room all day and the same teacher and he seems to really like that.
